One Step -Ahead- Behind
The water sparkled like the ads from Ambercrombie and Fitch. As we all stood there by the lake. I was one step ahead of everyone and was the closet to seeing the water. Even though I was one step ahead, everyone else had a plan of their own. I looked at the Ambercrombie ad water below me, and never thought it would be where my life would end. We were all messing around pretending to push each other into the deep depths of the lake. To bad I didn’t know it would be me who was really gonna get pushed in. I guess in reality I was one step behind. I felt a pair of hands on my back. A hard push followed. My body flew into the lake, sinking into its current and depth. My body sent waves of panic to my brain. That artificial looking water was swallowing me whole, for all I know there was probably quicksand somewhere in that lake. I guess you never really know whether you’re one step ahead or behind. I guess I was a step or two behind.
