Pushing through
By the time she pulled out on the road, she had been distanced by her target. For a second she thought about giving up, not taking a break, going back home. Home to a life she is not happy with anymore.
As those thoughts dissipated, she realized she was right next to her target, that young man she had just met in the coffee shop. That person who chatted with her for a couple hours about her life, disappointments and wishes for happiness. That person she never met before, but now knew just about everything about her life. Her heart was beating so hard that she could hear it in her head, louder than any thoughts she had.
Her head was spinning, full of ideas. Could she just reach to him and invite him over for dinner? Could she someday go out with him? Would he make her happy? Grasping for courage she braced herself and waved at him. His head turned, their gaze came across each others.
