Just Like that sailboat...
The sunset burned the textured sand beneath us. The sun was so warm, yet the water was icy. Nights blanket draped it’s fabric over the beach that night. I watched the sailboat in the distance, bouncing around on the waters. My eyes reflected this almost picture perfect scene.
He lay next to me.
Not a single word was spoken, yet his gentle blue eyes sang a million symphonies.
“I don’t want tomorrow to come. I don’t want that plane to take you away from here. Not again…”
A shallow tear drop formed, and his hands began to shake. Almost instantly, the burnt orange rays began to almost disappear under the ocean. The sand danced around the shoreline, playing gently in the breeze.
“I can’t stay. If I never see you again..I…”
I stopped. Froze like a sheet of ice, completely imobilized. For a second, it felt like the earth had stopped. Like the motions of humanity, frozen.
I stumbled my down to where the water gently folded over, and looked back at him. From now, I’m on my own. Just like that sailboat.
