Company No Matter Where You Are
Luna’s last words ran ceaselessly over and over in her head.
She remembered the battling wolves. The tears started again. She couldn’t stop them no matter how hard she tried. When she thought about the white wolf, lying motionless and bloody between the jaws of the brown wolf, it stirred an inexplicable pain in her heart.
And she knew why.
Luna had watched her past self die.
Regret, pain, anger, rage, determination; All welled up together and spilled over like too much water poured in a jug.
She curled up again; Luna hoped no one noticed that she was awake. They had put her on her bed, when she was still asleep and had left her alone.
Luna felt her left foot going to sleep. She sat up to rub it, but she gasped when she saw what was causing her foot to go numb.
Mark was sitting on a chair next to the bed; He must have fallen asleep and leaned over.
Luna smiled. She patted his hair;
And gave him a kiss.
