“He thinks you actually care about him,” her brother whispered.

She shrugged. “He can think what he likes.”

“Do you care about him?”

“It’s not really your business, is it?” She raised an eyebrow at him.

“You’re my sister, so of course it’s my business,” he told her. “And he’s my friend. If you’re just playing around with him, it would be better to end it sooner rather than later.”

“What I do in my personal life is none of your concern. And what he does in his has nothing to do with you. I’m sure you’re both mature enough to maintain your friendship no matter what happens. Just don’t believe everything you hear.”

“Just don’t think I’m some sort of damsel in distress, okay? Don’t forget I’m the older one.”

“Doesn’t make you any wiser,” he scoffed.

She gave him that look. “Makes me wiser than you.”

He shook his head. “If you say so. Just don’t screw him over, all right?”

“Think I’m capable of such a thing?” She asked.

“You’re a woman, so definitely yes.”
