Samantha walked down the windy, cold path alone. She could see other families in their houses dancing and having fun. These were the sort of people Samantha envied. To be able to have fun on Halloween, not to search the bins for left-over meals from last night.

Samantha didn’t have a family, well, she had her dog Alicia. Alicia was always by her side, using her nose to smell out food for them both. Alicia ran off into the darkness and came back with an old pumpkin. Samantha had an idea.

She walked up someones path, Alicia by her side, and knocked on their door. An old lady opened it and Samantha surprised her by saying “trick or treat!”
“Oh, what a lovely surprise. You just wait here dear, and I’ll be back in a jiffy.”

The lady came back with some fairy floss.
She bit the fairy floss and a sharp pain cut through her jaw as a razor blade stuck into her mouth. Alicia had a nasty cut through her jaw bone too.
The old lady took hold of them both and dragged them inside…OH NO!
