Two Little Warriors

The two warriors sat under a cherry tree, sipping their chai thoughtfully. Midori sharpened her spear and tied her long dark hair up into a long ponytail. She leaned back against the trunk of the tree.
“So, Hitomi, what are we doing today?” she asked, closing her eyes.
“Capture some renown robbers in the afternoon and we’re done for the day,” Hitomi munched on a cherry, leaving her fingertips red.
“How much?”
“About 5000 yen.”
“The police must be desperate,” Midori chuckled.
“I’ll say,” Hitomi lay back, looking at the falling sakura petals.

A man passed by them. Both warriors were leaning back, eyes closed and apparently asleep. The man walked away quietly.

Midori’s foot shot out like a snake. The man went tumbling.
“Give me back my wallet, pickpocket!” Midori growled, her eyes still closed. There was a rustle and a clink of money as the wallet landed on her lap. She opened one emerald eye and watched the man scramble away. Midori smiled wolfishly to herself.

“Yes, buddy, life is good,” she sighed.
