Sunshine flooded in the room as the sun rose slowly over the hill behind Kate’s house.
She grumbled sleepily & covered her head with the cover’s, trying to get some more sleep before she had to get up.
But she didn’t get so lucky as her mother walced into the room & pulled the sheets off her daughter.
‘C’mon Kate, It’s the first day of summer’ Her mother crowed.
Kate peered through her light stricken eyes at her mum only to see her looking down at her with her happy but sad in a way eyes.
Kate smiled her cheesy smile then sat up with a groan, hoping this might get her some sympathy but .. it never worked.
‘Mum, it’s Saturday & your getting me up at -’ Kate paused to look at the clock then continued ‘7:30’
‘You get up at this time most other days so i thought it wouldn’t matter’ her mum answered.
Kate rolled her eyes & follwed her mum out of the room down to the kitchen where she saw a bowl of Cheerio’s & a cup of Tea.
‘These For Me?’ Kate asked.
‘Kate, are you aware what today is?’ Her mother asked..
