Arguments

Erin was back about twenty minutes later, looking disgruntled.

“Grandma wanted to know what we’d been doing,” she said coldly, sitting down beside Anna. “I had to say we’d been playing tag and tired Lissy out.”

Anna nodded absently, lost in her own thoughts. “Erin,” she said, handing her cousin the family photograph, “Can you read what it says on the back of that?”

Erin turned the photograph over, scanned the words scrawled there, and rolled her eyes. “Anna, come on. Don’t tell me you can’t read this! Bet’cha Lissy could, for crying out loud.”

“Well, I can’t, ” Anna pouted. “C’mon, what does it say?”

Erin smirked. “Why should I tell you? You made me take Lis back to the house.”

If there was one thing Anna couldn’t stand, it was not being able to comprehend something that was just under her nose. It just got to her, like fingernails on a blackboard.

“Tell me!” she whined.

“Uh-uh…”

“Now! Or I’ll tell Grandma you gave your broccoli to the dog!”

“Okay, okay, fine!” cried Erin. “Here we go…”
