Never Again

Never Again

The unforgiving, silent winds of time met the morning sunrise
Flowers wilted on the graves of the innocent, newly laid to rest
Lowered flags rose again, words of ministers and politicians
Fled on the morning breeze, words without comfort or answers

Meeting the horror in the hall came Liviu Librescu, a Jew
Holocaust survivor, who refused to accept Communism
Refusing to swear allegiance to Romania’s Communists
Ostracized, fired from his job, asking to immigrate to Israel

The depth of indignity to his death was embodied by NBC news
Airing a sick mind who picked them for this very weakness
To earn ratings and glory regardless of the pain they cause
Like vultures on the wind, they soar always for the dead & dying

My heart aches, Liviu, and I want to think, I pray, you are with God now
Be that as it may, accept if you can from me, my thankfulness and love
For a man like you to come, brave and selfless, to save our children
For all that’s lost, never again
