is that we don’t only
hear bad things on the news.
Your question might be
stated in an extreme way,
even if that is what
it seems like sometimes.
It is because bad things
that happen (to us or otherwise)
register in our minds more boldly
than good things,
whether we hear
about it or it actually
happens to us.
For example,
an embarrassing moment
in school might register
more clearly
than something
like a small compliment.
Same thing with the news.
Also, some serious
bad things (such as ones in the community that need fixing) deserve the attention
because they need
that attention
for the cause
to be helped.
