I held his face in my hands, he was so cold. “Tom, it’s going to be okay,” I said determined. “It’s going to be okay.”
He shook his head roughly. How am I going to convince him?
“Tom! Tom! Look at me!” I searched his eyes, not finding anything.
“Tom, it’ll be okay. This is not your fault. Okay? Do you hear me?” he was beginning to come to and placed his icey hands on my arms, “Tom?”
He was looking at me now, seeing me, hearing me.
“You have got to let go of me? Okay? I love you, Tom, I really, really do. But I’m not in love with you. That doesn’t make much sense, but I know in my heart that I love and am in love with Jack. Even if he..” I couldn’t even.. “I always will be. It just hits you, Tom. It will find you. She will find you,” I felt like a preacher.
“I love you. Just stop trying to find her.”
“You,” he whispered.
“No, Tom,” I said sadly, “She’s not in me.”
Call me erratic but I think I saw a light in his eyes.
