The Lightning Boy: Prologue
They say lightning never strikes the same place twice. In that case, I’m a living, breathing rebuttal, but only by a stroke of sheer dumb luck. I’ve been struck by lightning twice but miraculously have lived with only two reminders. I know this sounds impossible and like a stupid story, but I’m only telling oyu what has happened. You may call me a lucky kid but I’ll tell you right now I’m only lucky when it counts. I’m not like those kids who win everything, or find a bunch of money, or anything like that. Actually apart from the lightning, I’m quite unlucky. I’m clumsy and always seem to be unaware of hurting myself by running into stuff or burning myself on the stove. I guess that’s just part of growing up. My mother and father are together, but just on the brink of seperation. They’ll stay together for the sake of my little sisterand I. They already think I’m suicidal, but I’ll tell you that they’re wrong in a heartbeat. Sometimes people think that if bad things happen, you’ll do bad things. They’re wrong.
