People say that a picture’s worth a thousand words. But is there one word in the whole dictionary that’s worth a thousand pictures? Explain.
Answer:
Most words are,
in fact,
worth a thousand pictures.
The trick
is that every word
carries this multiple
image meaning
to a different extent
with different individuals.

For instance,
if you say the word jelly bean
to me
I am instantly transported.
I can see
every step
from the cupboard to the space under the corner table where I ate
the 1 lb bag
of cherry jelly bellies.
Everything after that
is a blur of sensations,
images flashing before
my mind’s eye
as quickly as
a hyperactive 9 year
could have experienced them.
Trust me,
it’s way more
than a 1,000 images.
