She didn’t even want her anymore. She was consciously aware of how horrible of a mother that made her; but, she just felt no warmth toward this girl that she once held in her arms. Had she ever? Now, especially now, was not the time for a mother to be shunning her only daughter. She knew things would never be the same. His test results terrified him, for his little girl if noone else. The chill of that word “terminal” cut deeper than bone. Everything changed in that moment, and he felt the world stop on its axis. He didn’t even care about himself anymore, he knew he was a lost cause. The only two people he cared about, however, could barely even stand the sight of one another. As long as he was around, there was hope for both of them…and he knew he could keep his eye on her. He wanted to see her go to college. He wanted her to do better than he did. He wanted a better situation for his daughter, a safer and more comfortable life, maybe in the country away from the crime and smog. Tears rolled down face…
