Anso to Ficino 4/1497
Illustrious Maestro Ficino.
I fear I am in great danger, and once again write for your assistance. While attempting to reach you in person I was captured by one claiming to be the daughter of His Holiness, Alexander VI. Her intentions are yet a mystery, though we appear to be journeying to Rome aboard a vessel of incredible design, and if I am alive when we reach our destination I will find some way to send this missive.
I beg you to please hasten the construction of another machina, against my inevitable disappearance. The plans I have sent you over the last two years, in addition to the notes from my collaboration with Pico should be sufficient to duplicate my efforts given a talented enough engineer. I had intended to wait until mass production of my design could be attempted, but needs must make haste.
Once I reach Rome I will attempt to make contact with you again through my Order; I pray to God that they may be able to extract me from the iniquity of that place.
I am your servant, Anso.
