Wait, What?
“Alright Alisa, one last time, what did you see.”
Alisa sighed and told it again. “I heard the scream and didn’t see anything. Then I saw the ribbon, noticed a place where the grass was mashed down. And then, the blood….” she stared at her hands.
“What did the scream sound like”
“Terror, it was high pitched too, a woman’s scream.”
“Good, how did it end?”
“It, didn’t.”
“How do you mean?”
“It.. Stopped abruptly, then hung there.”
The officer nodded, then opened his mouth to ask another question when the door flew open and large flustered looking woman bustled in “MY DAUGHTER IS GONE !” she wailed.
The officer lept up and patted her on the shoulder. “Calm down, calm down, what happened Mrs. Cosmeyer?”
The woman took a shuddering breath “Camora is gone!” she said her voice watery.
“Are you sure she didn’t just go off to the market?”
“No, She promised to be home by noon, she went off with that McArthur boy, I always knew he was trouble. Camora is ALWAYS home on time.” Alisa stared at the woman.
