Busted
The door clicked as he eased it shut. The light in the living room came on behind him. Busted. He turned around. Dad and mom just had to wait up.
“Do you know what time it is?” his father asked.
“4:00?”
“4:30. You were supposed to be home almost 6 hours ago. Where were you?”
“I was out.”
“Well, we could see that!” his mother said, sounding very irritated. “Your father and I were worried!”
“Come on,” he said. “I’m 18. I can take care of myself.”
“I don’t care!” his father yelled. “Now, I want to know where you were, with whom, and what, exactly, you were doing!”
“And you’ll tell us right now!” his mother added.
“Fine.” He took a deep breath. “Well, first, Tamor, Goldleaf, and I stopped by the watchtower of Amendell the White. She was the only one who could tell us where the Blood Temple of Enira was, and how to slay the demon, Eb’Irith. After rescuing Princess Tilea from the altar, we…”
“Enough!” His father threw up his hand. “Don’t want to know. Going to bed!”
“Gamers,” his mother sighed.
