“So, you want to get paid.â€? I said, motioning for him to unlock the door. “Let me into his place.â€?

He unlocked the door. “The reason I called you is, well yes, I want to get paid. Thing is, your brother is normally very consistent with his rent.â€?

“News to me. He’s never been very responsible.â€?

“Look, man. He pays his rent four or five days late every month. I like him; I look the other way. Don’t charge a late fee. That’s why I’m so disturbed. It has been three weeks now.â€?
