Terrific sequence! There’s a little bit of a Harry Potter element, which I would caution you against straying too close to, but I thoroughly enjoyed the conflict and your exploration of the characters and their relationships.

If you mean the blast o’ magic from Alexander’s staff then yeah, I worried about the similarities of that to the Avada Kedavra curse. It’s going to be difficult to avoid stuff like that, esp. for me because I’ve never written this sort of genre before. But I’m working on this story in book-form as well, so I when I have the chance to expand on these ficlets I’ll take care to try and avoid stuff like that :)
