Crashing Like A Wave

I sat at the edge of the ocean hugging my knees to my chest. Looking out in the distance, I realized how the waves represented my life. Or rather, the rocks they hit. The waves were like challenges, choices, change that constantly crashed into you, full speed and persistant.
They seemed to shape my life. But I was told that it’s not what happens to you that matters, but what you do with what happens to you. I am just a person, and with humanity comes flaws. For, without them, you cannot be human.
Everybody eventually lets their guard down, and they get hurt. Inside or out, it doesn’t matter.
The sand is our friends and family. They keep us grounded. They never let us fall. And if you don’t cherish them, if you don’t hold onto them, the water can wash them away.
Forever.
So we are the rocks. The waves will always crash against us. The sand will keep us standing. And the sun will keep beating down on us. The stars will shine for us.
Lighting the world around us.
Our world.
