Look Familiar?
“Amy-”
“No,” I cut her off desperately. We’d been looking and had wandered into the next yard. Michael’s. If she said it it would be like making our failure final. “I know it was here somewhere…”
“Amy?” I looked up impatiently but Hannah was staring at a spot off my shoulder.
“What?” Suddenly I heard what was scaring her. I turned to where her eyes wre directed and where the sound was coming from. A beat-up tennis shoe emerged from the bushes and Hannah and I screamed. We made to run away but all of a sudden more footsteps surrounded us and we heard excited and angry voices blending together. I finally saw a face I recognized when Officer Luke, followed by Tony and Michael, came forward. He looked grave as he said:
“Girls, follow me.” We cautiously followed him into another clearing, that we had searched for the camera in earlier, and he gestured to some plants that were in the middle, “These look familiar?” Hannah let out a small gasp of recognition but I didn’t get it. “Pot.”
