Old Times
Jesse Crawford put out his cigarette. Stared at Claire Williams, his high college girlfriend. Hadn’t seen her in ten years.
He knew it was her when she walked by. Her hair was shorter, but it was unmistakably his Claire. Funny that he would still think of her as ‘his’. Their break up wasn’t a mutual one.
Her scarf flowing behind her as she hurried to get in out of the chilly October air.
He rushed up to her, she seemed startled to see him. Her smile was genuine he could tell. He made her smile many times back at Hofstra.
“So what have you been up to Claire?”, Jesse asked.
“I just got engaged,” Claire said, and held up her hand showing him her ring . Thinking to herself, _ why did I just wave my ring in his face, that was mean. Still bitter over his dumping me all this time later. I thought I was over that. But my problems with Jake are reminiscent of what broke Jesse and I up._
“I’m in town a few days. wanna get together and catch up on old times?”, Jesse asked.
“Sure,” said Claire and smiled nostalgically.
