Of Escargot, a Ghost, and a Conundrum
I poked around at the escargot on my plate. No one but Mitch would be able to tell I was deep in thought and not just grossed out by the fact there was a snail on my dinner plate.
He came and sat by me. “I need to talk to you. Can you hear my thought right now?”
“Yeah. Mitch, I…“
“No. I’m sorry I didn’t believe you.”
I looked at him like I would if we were speaking. We must have looked strange to our peers. Which was not anomalous at all.
“It’s just all happening so fast!”
“Kaeli. I just wanted to know what that ghost meant by me being your chosen.”
“And I’d like to know what she meant by me being theirs!”
Of course the spirit chose then to show up. “You were perfect for the job,” she smiled.
“What job?” Mitch and I thought together.
The spirit woman smiled at the two of us, and then turned specifically to me. “Look deep inside yourself. You know what you must do. You must know. That’s why you were chosen.“
And with that, she was off again.
