Class Pets
Sarah sat at the desk in her Business Law class and tried not to look around too much. She’d been in for a surprise when she’d come in—fully half the hundred or so students in the class had cat ears and tails just like hers. Some of them even had full-body fur. Whenever their gazes met, both self-consciously looked away. The professor either didn’t notice the anatomical alterations in some of his students, or else was pretending not to.
After class, Sarah couldn’t help but notice a lot of the feline students were and walking out hand in hand with ordinary people. Sarah shuddered, and headed home.
“Your Gypsy friend has been busy,” Sarah said as she passed the living room.
“Oh, you saw them?” Simone giggled. “Yes, it was quite a party. Half the people thought it would be neat to make pets of their friends—and the other half wanted to be the pets!” She paused. “Well, there were some who were too drunk to take notice, but we didn’t want them to feel left out!”
“Gee, thanks.”
“You’re welcome!”
