Gimme Eat ["What If" Challenge]

The alarm went off. Again. I decided it was time to face the fact that Monday morning was here and it wasn’t going away any time soon.

Dejectedly, I sat up to turn off my alarm clock, and that is when I noticed him sitting at the foot of my bed. His green eyes scrutinized me in that unnerving, unblinking way of his.

“Why are you looking at me like that, Tigger? Is it ‘cause you want your breaky?”

I swung my legs out from the covers and stood up, giving a good stretch as I did so. Tigger jumped down from the bed and stood waiting, his tail curving into a question mark. His whiskers quivered with anticipation.

Five minutes later he was eagerly wolfing down his food. I sat spooning Cheerios into my mouth and reading the paper. When Tigger’s bowl was empty again, he came up to me and butted my leg with his head.

I looked down at him. “What do you want now, Tigger?”

He looked up at me with his unblinking green eyes. He opened his mouth and said in a clear voice, “Gimme eat.”

My spoon clattered to the floor.
