Perfect Match
“Go on, man!” Tim urged me. “Ask her!”
“No!” I almost shouted it. I was getting so frustrated with his pushing. “I can’t.”
“Stop being such a coward.” Sounded like he was getting frustrated, too. “You’re the only one in the group who doesn’t have a date for the dance!”
“Right! And there’s a good reason for that. I’m not going!” He was my best friend, but, dammit, I wanted to deck him.
“Why? Why is it so damned hard for you to ask her? You know you want to.”
“It’s just…” How could I explain it so he’d understand? “It’s just that something really weird happens when I talk to girls.”
He started laughing. “Dude, we learned all about that in sex ed!”
“Not that, you perv!” Okay. I’d show him.
I walked up to Cindy. “Um… Cindy?” She turned around, and then it happened. Out of nowhere…

Tim’s jaw dropped.
She smiled and laughed. “Oh, my god!” she yelled over the music. “You, too?!”
Me, too?!
Maybe the dance wasn’t such a bad idea…
