The Labyrinth Revisited

“You remind me of the babe.”

“What babe?” Kara asked annoyed and swatted a bee as it tried to nest in her hair for what seemed to be the hundredth time.

Jasper laughed and leaned in close to her ear, “The babe with the power.” She rolled her eyes. It was hot and she was in no mood for fun. “I’m not playing. We’re lost. For real, lost.”

He stopped in front of her with his arms crossed over his chest and pouted. His golden hair was starting to curl at his temples. “Okay fine,” she said harshly, “What power?” Then she pushed him, hard.

He scrambled up behind her and continued, “The power of voodoo,” in an annoyingly sing song voice. Kara was walking quickly and almost out of breath when she came to the dead end, “Who do?”

“You do,” Jasper laughed leaning down to nuzzle the back of her head. Kara carefully reached her hand through the shrubbery.

Something latched onto her wrist and pulled her, “Do what?!”

“Remind me of the babe.” Jasper finished as he followed her, smiling, through the hedge.
