Vacation time.
The noise was a wall. It pushed Herris-seven against the window, and it showed no sign of abating. He desperately reached for his radio, only to remember that he’d left it with his better tenth four floors below.
“Damn it.” he muttered, but the sound of his words were lost in the roaring tumult. It’s the thought that counts, right?
He could smell the pungent odor of burning bacon and melting steel. He could see the monster which stood before him, invisible but for it’s ember glow, pummeling him with fists of sound. He knew that this body wouldn’t last long. It was just a matter of time before he and his bodies would be made into dust.
“Aw, who cares.” he thought. “At least Herris-four won’t need to fix the drapes.”
............
Two days later a public investigator found Herris-seven’s body. He sighed a deep, wobbly sigh. This was going to be his case.
He picked up the head of the android and looked it in the eyes. “You…” he said. “Just cost me my vacation.”
