Caring for Jay
The days passed, and with each day, came colder winds and temperature. Nonetheless, Jeremy kept that window open, and Jay let him know that he appreciated it by being his friend. One day, Jeremy was playing with his army men when he started to get a rough cough. Jay looked at him worriedly. Jeremy noticed this. “I’m fine. It’s just a tiny cough,” but Jeremy saw Jay shivering, so he did his best to sew him a little jacket.
You really shouldn’t be doing this for me. Jay thought. You should be using this yarn to fix up the holes in your clothes. Yes, Jeremy did have quite a few holes in his clothing, but he didn’t seem to mind. How many months has it been since you let me live here? Jay looked up at Jeremy. It was as if Jeremy could sense that Jay was asking him this. “It’s been two and a half months since we’ve known each other,” he told Jay.
That meant it was in the middle of November. The snow would come soon, and Jeremy definitely was not ready at all, mostly because he didn’t know what was coming.
