Long time no see
My head pounded due to the music blaring out of the surround sound system. People milled around on the dance floor; some dancing, some chatting and some leading their partners away to the bedrooms. And then there was the few people (myself included) who were to busy drinking to dance.
I took another sip of vodka, and I immediately regretted it when my head started to spin. I grabbed hold of the stair banister, steadying myself.
A pair of hands wrapped themselves around my waist. I turned around and found myself staring into a pair of big brown eyes.
“Derek?” I questioned.
“Well, look who it is! Tori Davine. How long has it been? A good year I’d say.” Derek smirked, he let go of my waist only to put his arm around my shoulder and lead me down the hall.
“What the hell are you doing here Derek? Last time I saw you, you were heading off to Vegas to try your hand at gambling. Did that not work out?” I shoved his arm away from me, and wrapped my arms around myself, as if I had my own special barrier.
