Reversing Time
“You know,” I said, tracing the rim of my coffee mug. “I’m going to London for the summer.” My friend, Dallas, looked up from her cooling bowl of soup in front of her. Her eyes were filled with mischief.
“I always wanted to see that damn clock, you know, Big Ben.”
“Now why on earth would you do that?”
“I wanted to mess up the time. You know, so when it’s noon, it’ll be pitch-black, and when it’s midnight, it’ll be as bright as day!”
At this, I almost choked on my drink. Then I started cracking up. At least half the restaurant was looking as our table. Dallas joined in with my laughter, but I was freaking hysterical!
After I caught my breath again, I shook my head. “Who wants to eat lunch in the dark?” She smiled, letting out a little giggle. “I would,” she told me assuringly.
“Of course you do.”
