All She Could Say
“Ashley! I’m sorry!” Brett was yelling up to her.
“Brett?! What the hell are you doing?! Its almost 3AM!” Ashley was whisper-screaming.
“What did you say? I can’t hear you!” Great. Now she was going to have to go outside.
“Hold on a minute I’ll come down there.” Ashley closed her window, stuffed a pillow under her bed, walked out into the hallway and closed the door behind her. You can never be too careful…
When Ashley got downstairs, she decided her back door would be the quietest to open, so she grabbed her Etnies from the rug by the front door, a winter coat out of the closet, and crept to the sliding glass door.
She made sure that there would be no way for her to get locked out and then made her way to the front yard.
“Brett, what the hell are you doing?!” Ashley was on the verge of screaming.
“I can’t sleep, I came to apologize.” Brett sounded sincere.
“Brett, look, I forgive you. But I can’t be with you anymore… Friends?” That was all Ashley could say.
