She Sees

Bolivianna took the customer’s money, tucked the crumpled bills into her bosom, and breathed deeply, settling into the receptive state of mind that allowed her to do her work.

After a few minutes, the customer said, “Hey, lady! Are you gonna tell my fortune or not? I don’t got all day—you don’t need ESP to know that!”

Bolivianna smiled wearilly. “I tell you only what I am shown,” she croaked. “Only what I see. Maybe, it is your fortune. Maybe, it is a message. Maybe we do not know.” She jolted with a start, as images began to form beneath the glass ball’s surface and she made out a peculiar figure, rolling around with wheels on its foot.

She looked closer, and a strange tale unfolded before her eyes.
