After recovering from that little surprise, we set about preparing for the trip. It was a two day ride to Albrecht’s keep. Through out our prep time, everyone was asking me details about Albrecht that I hadn’t put into play, but had written down about him. Fortunately, he was one character I had created that I had never revised (aside from his death status).

Jaime… Excuse me… Tanitha (I had to get used to thinking of us as our characters) spent a couple of hours in the village. They had a temple to her goddess there, and she wanted all the help we could get. Bright girl!

Rexor (Robert) and Eric (Will) spent their time battling phantoms Adrovan conjured up. Testing their skills. They were up to snuff.

I pulled Alex aside. “Alex, question for you.”

He smiled. He knew what was coming.

“Adrovan said we have all our characters’ skills. The whole ‘cat burglar’ thing is BS, a story for Robert’s benefit, right?”

He just winked, laughed, and handed back the wand he had lifted somewhere along the line.
