The Envelope
“Ding-dong!” The doorbell sounded. I rub my eyes and groan. Who could it be this early on a Saturday? All my friends and family know how precious my sleep is to me.
I get out of bed, down the hall, and to the door as fast as my newly awoken self will take me. I open it and squint at the harsh daylight.
My eyes adjust, but I don’t see anything. That’s weird. I start to shut the door, wondering if I had imagined it or what, but then I noticed it. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw a white envelope with something written in cursive. I grab it and bring it close to my face, as I have yet to put my contacts on, and see that it says…
