Silence in the Gray
I sat on my couch, looking for something to do. I looked up at the skylight in my room. The sky was consumed in a world of gray and white.
Hm….nice day.
It was then when I got up, and walked out the back door onto my half-built deck. I looked out into my backward and the woods that lined it. The skyline was a mix of yellowed grass, trees graying with age, but spotted with red of the blooming to come later in the season.
I hopped down from my deck and started walking down the slow slope to my woods. I felt the light spring breeze brush against my fair skin and send a thousand tiny pinpricks up and down my body.
I walked into my woods, an inhuman calm swept over me. I heard a deafening silence swept over the landscape, but it somehow seemed far away. I looked up.
Aha!
I started climbing a very tall tree, thin but strong. I must have climbed a hundred or to feet before I sat down at it’s pinnacle.
I listened, and I let myself slow down as the silence gave me peace.
