Maybe Next Time
I finally started talking to Brett, Mike ,and Tod again. They purposefully avoided the subject of me and Hayley, considering everyone. I really appreciated it, but Hayley was still on my mind a lot.
It’s been a few weeks now since I dumped Hayley, or she cheated on me, whichever came first.
Hayley has not stopped calling me, not even a little. She practically on a schedule. She always called three times in the night, and twice in the morning. I thought about blocking her from my phone, but I thought better of it.
I really should, anyway.
After the school day ended, I heard she and it talking. I tried to walk faster, but Hayley called out to me.
“Hey! Tyler!” She said.
I turned to her voice, but did not speak.
“Listen, I’m so sorry.” She started to say. “Can I make it up to you.”
“No, never.” I said flatly.
I felt no remorse for doing that at all, but I can’t trust her at all now. Hell, maybe even the “lonely-and-blind” idea was growing on me.
Maybe next time, Hayley, just not now.
