Falling Into Place (CLFM 38)
The universe blinked. I looked around the airport and glared at Les.
“It wasn’t me,” he babbled. “She did it, I didn’t quite get the temporal spatial leak in time. Somehow she thought us here.”
We didn’t have time for this. And those two needed to get a room! Geesh!
“Les,” I dragged him to one side. “Just what is going on here? What is this thing?” I shoved the device under his nose. “Why do I keep talking in a foreign language?”
“You don’t know boss, er, kid,” he stammered. “You really don’t know yet?”
He looked disappointed in me.
“Give me time,” I said. “And I can beat it out of you.”
“Uh, save that for Gary, he started all this.”
Oddly enough the Gary name sounded slightly familiar.
“Okay, I need a cigarette.” I stomped out of the airport to the parking lot and the chevy I knew would be there. Why I needed a cigarette I didn’t know? I’d never smoked before…
