The Eerie Child of the Apocalypse
The eerie child took my hand and led me to the refuge where we would make our last stand. Others there looked as shocked as I felt. The towering wave was approaching quickly and we could feel the intensity of the moment.
It was Judgment Day, there would be a flood of epic proportions. If anyone survived, we had the fierce, cosmic warriors to contend with and I sensed even a nuclear arsenal would be useless to us now.
I asked the child, “Why is this happening?” and felt the answer within my soul.
“Indifference,” he said simply and walked away.
“Where are you going!?” I screamed. “It’s not safe out there!”
“The storm shall not hurt you,” he replied, “If you stay in the refuge, but there are others who are in grave danger.”
“Can we help you?” I asked.
“Help him, have you lost your mind!?” the shocked businessman shouted. “Only a fool would leave safety at a time like this!”
“Fool or not,” I shot back. “You wouldn’t be here if he hadn’t helped you!”
I walked out the door to see the world one last time.
