Silver linings

Silver linings aren’t always a comfort. Most times, they mean frustration. They mean stress and sadness. They mean anger or restraint. Every cloud has a silver lining; every eye can grow one. The organic kind, the kind that spring unwanted to betray emotion in its purest forms, aren’t comforting. The made-up kind, the kind on clouds and other silly frilly things, that kind is always happy. Because ‘every cloud has a silver lining’, and things will always get better. When things are bad, look up to the clouds and find your silver lining. When things are good, look up again and find the whole sky shining with silver linings, alight and glorious just for you. But really, if you just look down at your cheek, and feel the edge of your own lid, you’ll see you have your very own silver lining. Of course, these are only found in times of grief and strife. Clouds and eyes are more alike that anyone could’ve thought. Clouds and eyes keep silver linings, and show them off when nothing else can be seen.
