What really made this one work for me was the interchange between the protagonist and the sister, “At least try to act like you want to be here.”

My heart stirs with the character who wonders why he’d want to be at his father’s funeral. (Assuming it is a ‘he’, could easily be a ‘she’).

Agree with thebetweenspace, but this is so well written. I can practically feel like I’m standing in the room, hearing their little fight. The tense atomsphere is described well between the brother and sister…I’m guessing they’re related or something. Must read on…
