Keep it Up
After we introduced ourselves, we all sat down. Not even thirty seconds after we ordered, Jolinda started talking at a million miles an hour about her and Parker’s wedding. I waited for a break in her speech. So, when she stopped, I put something in?
“Parker got any good ideas for his tux?” I said conversationally.
Jolinda looked at me, didn’t even bat and eyelash, then continued.
She’s crazy.
Parker read my expression an glanced at me apologetically. I cocked an eyebrow and….well…it was almost like telepathy.
Interrupt and say how you want to change something. i thought to him.
No. The inner-Parker almost whimpered.
Assert yourself! I coaxed.
No, she won’t do any-
NOW !
“Jolinda.” Parker said a little too loudly. “Hey, next time we’re around there, lets pick out a new tux for me.”
Jolinda looked taken aback, nodded, then hardly spoke. Parker, Brooke, and I talked for the rest of our time at the restaurant.
Nice going, man. I thought the whole time. Keep it up.
