Life And Death
Kahn: I feel so weak.
He laid his blonde hair boldly against my shoulder. Mike flinched.
Me: Um.
Mike: Hell no.
Kahn: So Demi, how old are you, if you don’t mind me asking?
Oh jeez, he’s polite and flirting.
Me: I don’t mind I’m sixteen.
He blushed slightly.
Me: You?
Kahn: Fifteen.
Mike laughed out loud and smiled.
Mike: I’m going to fish.
Kahn: Oh you fish?
Mike: Yes. You?
Kahn: Some, let’s all go.
Mike made a show of taking my hand and as he pulled me up; Kahn’s head almost hit the log we were on. He recovered and we all walked to the water. Mike had this look on his face as he went into the water.
Kahn: So why are you here?
Me: Small plane crash, you?
Kahn: Me too. Oh I was sitting next to this girl who kept taking medication. She looked a little like your friend there.
Sam.
Me: Oh my god that was his sister.
Kahn: Oh.
I just stared at Mike, wondering how this Kahn had sat next to Sam and survived. This might have been the one standing between her life and death.
