A Slightly Different First-day-of-School Story
How many stories start on the first day of school? Far too many. “As Julie waited for the bus, she twisted a strand of pale blond hair between her fingers and bit her lip. Would she make any friends? Could any friends be as great a Brittney and Ashley?”
“Even blueberry pancakes didn’t taste good to Lucy on her first day of school. She was so excited, and nervous!”
You've all heard those. The eternal laments of the Julie's and Lucy's of this world. Concerned solely with their social lives, their college of choice, and staying pretty. I, for one am interested in quite different things.
“Riding alone on the subway, Georgia thought of the things she needed to remember: that her name was “really” Amelia Scott, that her father wasn’t a MIA government agent, and that the man across the aisle looked a lot like someone who was about to try and kidnap her.”
Yeah. I thought you hadn’t heard that one.
