I am Jesse (Jock)
When I saw Jake walking up I knew from the look on his face something was wrong.
“Hey man, wassup?” I asked nonchalantly.
“Not much. Hey, look did you hear about—?” he let the question drop indicating I would know if I’d heard.
“No, what?” I asked.
“Um… It’s your stupid girlfriend… and Cooper,” he gave me a look that was both apologetic and I-told-you-so ish.
I was quiet as I listened to him explain the scene that had just occurred three levels below.
Yes, news travels that fast at my school. We’re like gossip kingdom here, although honestly, what high school isn’t?
”...She always was a bitch anyway,” Jake ended.
“Yeah,” I heard myself saying, “Nothing really great.” I shrugged finishing packing my books into my backpack and turned to walk to the stairs and out of the building, with the vague idea of finding and throttling both her and Cooper.
“That’s good, ‘cause I set you up with my cute cousin from Florida for this Saturday,” Jake cut across my thoughts.
“You what?” I asked, incredulous.
