Exactly, howhardlifeis, this is about self acceptance. Your story is similar to some others in that respect.
But it is also about avoidance of the truth and being the calm, meek one whom everyone likes. Pleasing others, but not yourself.
Beware, I caution your character, you just might have a breakdown.
