Simply Gorgeous

She stared up. The giant tree covered her from the sun. Thank goodness. She would surely burn out here in the sun, and the last thing she wanted was to be crispy and red around him.
He strode over to her with a crooked smile that caused dimples to appear on his cheeks. “My lady,” he said casually as he spread out a giant and gorgeous quilt across the plush grass. “Would you like some water?” he was so polite, it made her even more dizzy. She grinned and gently pushed her plastic cup towards him. Simple, yet so elegant. He really knew how to treat a lady.
After the incident at the prom, she wasn’t so sure he’d ever look at her again. Thanks to the chemotherapy, the tree had more hair than her. She was thankful through her jealousy. The foliage protected her graciously from the sun’s harmful rays. “About last night…” she whispered to him. He hushed her and gently asked. “May I see?” She looked confused but then she saw what he was staring at. She removed the blue bandana exposing her bald skull. “Gorgeous.”
