Storms Bring Out The Worst In People
Me: It’s Kahn, I have to help him!
I inched toward the shelter enterance, but Mike stopped me.
Mike: No! You know what he did! Don’t go after him!
Me: He’s probably hurt!
Mike: Demi!
Me: Mike!
I struggled to the front, but Mike was there, blocking my way as the storm continued on louder.
Me: Move!
Mike: No!
I tried to get pass him, but forgot how strong he was. No matter how much I shoved, he didn’t budge. Instead, he pulled me back further and wrapped his arms around me, restraining.
Me: Mike! Don’t be jealous enough to let him get hurt! Let me go!
Mike didn’t reply, his face looked to hurt as I said those words. Oops.
Mike: I’m not jealous.
Me: I didn’t mea-
Mike: Not jealous.
He said it in a way that made me think he was trying to convince himself as well as me. And he probably was.
Me: Mike please!
Mike: No! I-
But his voice was drowned out by the noise and another scream. Just then, Kahn dragged himself into our shelter.
Kahn: My leg is…
Mike: NO!
