People, Leashes, and Maturity Levels

The ol’ Mitchbrook Park. The park for everyone and everything. Dogs on leashes… Whoa! People on leashes? Is it really that hard to hold your kid’s hand? It’s like signaling to everyone that you can’t control your kid, or you have lost them more than once.

“Hey, I heard that you went all nuclear on Milo.”, Devon says.

Nuclear, a nonrenewable resource, and the terminology of the teenage mind, went crazy or got angry.

“Who said that?”

“Milo, so you can’t deny it.”

“Great… that’s just grand.”, I say, “I love having my life told to people. It’s what I live for.”

“Oh come on, it’s Milo. He only tells me stuff when you totally freak.”

“I was angry and confused.”

“Confused about what?”

“The stupid image running through my head.”

“What image?”

“The image of the heart with my parents initials in it.”, I say, “There you satisfied.”

“This is way beyond our maturity level.”

“Yeah, you think.”
